2018

Well the blog was down for sometime but is up and ready for you to see now. I am now in my final year of my Masters of Visual Arts. It has been a great time meeting other very talented artists and of course pushing myself beyond what I thought I could.

I will be holding more screenprinting workshops both at arc Yinnar and in my studio. The first is a full Printmaking course with myself and Jenny Peterson. Jenny will be covering etching, lino and mono print and I will be covering screenprinting. The class begins on the 18th of April until 24th of June. Cost is $460 or $230 concession. Contact arc on arcyinnar@speedwen.com.au to enrol.

Photo screen workshops in my studio are held on Saturdays and cost $90 for three people or $135 for two people. Contact me via this website.

2017 Off an running

Last year was so busy I hardly posted anything! There were workshops, Uni studies, Open Studios Latrobe, exhibitions and of course regular work in my studio to keep things running.

This year there will be more of the same but I want to do more workshops, specifically in screenprinting. Some will be in my studio where I can teach three people, and some will be at arc Yinnar where the studio is larger and I can teach six to eight at a time. Lots of fun achieving great things.

As far as learning is concerned, my first year of my Masters of Visual Arts was challenging but I learned so much. This year I imagine will be much the same. I am always learning.

Let's get up to date

I have been busy and I noticed I haven't posted anything since February! I'm well into printing and drawing of course. In fact I have started a course at University. I am doing my Masters of Visual Arts which has been consuming lots of my time and brain space!

Since February a group of dedicated artists at arc in Yinnar have worked on a mural on the front of the art space which is an old converted butter factory. In fact arc can claim to be the longest artist run initiative (ARI) in Australia. I started working there in 1984! I moved into my own studio in 1997.

Just this weekend was Open Studios Latrobe where we, eighteen artists including myself invite the public to visit our studios and see where and how we work. It was very successful.

2016 already!!!

Well, the year is definitely off and running. I'm not sure if I have actually caught up yet though!

We are planning another Open Studios Latrobe on the 16th and 17th of April and are busy bringing the artists together and getting the promotion organised. Lots to do.

The Mural at arc is happening slowly but surely in amongst all the other work I have set myself.

I have enrolled at university to do my Masters in Visual Arts - part time over three years. Exciting and terrifying at the same time.

I have just entered two art competitions and wait with many others to find out if I have been accepted to be exhibited.

Getting ready for the festive season and the new year

I have been very busy after Open Studios Latrobe as Christmas is nearly upon us. People are looking for gifts and I am here for something creative. Just think about a Pet Portrait of your own beloved pet or as a gift for someone you care about. I do gift vouchers too!

I am just about to start a mural with a group of artists at arc Yinnar. We are going to repaint the old mural that has been there for over twenty years. I am going to incorporate some of the design into the new mural and hopefully it will bring new life to the building. We want to get lots of people involved too including the local school kids. This will deserve regular updates and photos.

Workshops and Open Studios!

Last Sunday was Open Studios Latrobe where 21 artists from our area opened their studios to the public. It was an amazing day with lots of visitors through my door. I spoke with so many wonderful people who were keen to visit my studio again. I was very lucky to have some sales too. All the other artists had lots of visitors too and we intend to do this again in April next year.

On the workshop scene, I had my first one day introductory screenprinting workshop in my studio early October and it was a great success. There were only three people which was just right. Each person did a photo stencil and print. I will be holding another workshop in November and more next year. Only $90 each person and I supply all the materials. The participants just have to bring their ideas and something to print on. One person wasn't quite sure what to print with this workshop so we worked it out and she actually did two different prints! Check out the photos in 'Workshops'

I will be putting more information on my Facebook page too - Sharon Anderson Artist
